I have learned so much in such a supportive environment. I was challenged in all the right ways, and I’m a more informed and well-grounded practitioner. Not just that, I trust myself in ways that I did not before.

Are you committed to taking Reiki into your daily life, a reliable life-long companion for navigating the challenges, transitions and big feelings that cycle through your life? One that you can share with others as a healing practice?

Do you learn best within a dynamic, supportive community of practice, enhanced by customized individual attention from instructors and peer accountability partners?

Are you seeking structure to guide your process, flexibility to customize the learning to your needs, and spacious time for experience and integration?

Do you value a teaching approach that is trauma-informed and culturally respectful towards the origins of the practice?

The HeartScapes Reiki Academy provides you with a powerful learning experience for self-development, emotional resilience, and spiritual growth.

This unique program guides you through a comprehensive, experiential Reiki education that is both structured and spacious.  You’ll be fully supported to develop a robust Reiki practice from your center outward, and to share this practice with others in the ways that are most meaningful to you.

The Academy will give you powerful knowledge, practices and community that is spiritually potent, rooted in the Japanese origins of Reiki, and directly relevant to the challenges, joys and decisions you are making in your day-to-day life.

You will receive all three levels of Reiki training, special topics classes, a collection of learning materials, one-on-one sessions and community rituals of celebration and support.

Not sure whether you’re ready to commit to the full program?

You are welcome to register just for the first class (Shoden Reiki I). You’ll have until the end of that 8-week class to decide to jump into the year program. Schedule a call for more information, or register for Shoden here.

What sets this program apart from others?

  • Reiki first and foremost for self-development and self-healing: While modern western Reiki tends to emphasize the practice as a hands-on healing modality primarily for sharing with other people, from its origins the system of Reiki is a pathway of self-development. This system, drawn from esoteric Buddhist and Shinto traditions, is designed to help us clear away the mental, emotional and physical muck that dims our feeling of connection to ourselves, to others and to the natural world. Healing is defined in part as the process of remembering these connections, and feeling them alive in our lives. We begin, therefore, with this foundation, and then build techniques for sharing Reiki with others as an extension of the strength of our self-practice.

  • Rooted in the Japanese origins of Reiki: The system of Reiki comes from a very specific cultural and historic context within Japan, drawn from much older spiritual traditions. The five elements of the system have specific meanings within that original context. In it’s long pathway into the western world and modern times, many aspects that make Reiki what it is have been discarded, modified, or blended with other traditions in ways that change their essential meaning and function. Western Reiki is, in many ways, a different system than the original system of Reiki. These origins matter, and knowing and honoring them keeps us in integrity with this practice as western practitioners of a Japanese art. And I have found that practicing from the perspective of its origins is deeply effective. For these and other reasons, we endeavor to teach the system of Reiki, as much as is possible for us as Americans, from the perspective of the Japanese origins. We encourage our students to form a strong foundation with these origins, and then to make their practice their own through connections with the traditions of their own lineages.

  • A Social Change lens for our work: HeartScapes bloomed from my 15 years dedicated to social justice leadership development. We operate from a stance that is inclusive, anti-racist, and trauma-informed; affirming the identity of each student and supporting you to live true to yourself. It is our belief that we each have essential contributions to make to our communities and the world, through the authentic expression of our lives. My role is to help you clear away anything you are carrying inside that limits your ability to share your contribution within your family, your community and/or the world.

At the essential core, we are here to remember and reclaim our sacred relationship to ourselves, to each other, and to the Land.

This is the promise of HeartScapes Reiki Academy, and it is the promise and the gift of Reiki itself.
