Teaching the system of Reiki requires an entirely different set of skills and techniques than practicing the system of Reiki. To undertake the responsibility of the Teacher well and with integrity requires a balance of pedagogical knowledge, deep connection to the practice of Reiki, and relationship with the Mystery that holds this sacred work.

The HeartScapes Reiki Teaching Apprenticeship prepares you to teach Reiki at all levels from the perspective of the Japanese origins of the system. To create your own Reiki-based classes, circles and experiences according to your specific interests and context, guided by a Master Teacher with two decades of teaching and curriculum design experience.

It’s structured as an apprenticeship rather than a class in order to support a robust and hands-on learning experience.  The apprenticeship is embedded into the HeartScapes Reiki Academy 9-Month Program (9MP), with your teacher training lessons taking place before, during and after the 9MP course work.

This progression is designed to provide spaciousness, structure and flexibility, as you receive comprehensive training into how to teach Reiki from any lineage and with grounding in Reiki’s original form.  This will allow you to learn at the pace of your own direct experience of teaching.

You Can Come to this Apprenticeship As:

• A graduate of the HeartScapes Reiki Academy 9-Month Program. 9MP graduates will get to re-immerse in the coursework and community, with the curtain pulled back to reveal the teaching structure that makes HeartScapes’ classes unique and deeply effective. Graduates receive discounted tuition to the Reiki Teaching Apprenticeship.

• A graduate of any other Reiki training, in any lineage. You will journey through the 9MP as a Teaching Apprentice, and therefore will learn Reiki from the perspective of it’s Japanese origins. You will receive customized support to create your own courses and programs that are rooted in the integrity of the traditions that Reiki came from, integrated with the interests and traditions that make your perspective unique.

• A student completely new to the system of Reiki! If you come to HeartScapes Reiki Academy as a new student with the goal of eventually teaching Reiki, you can co-enroll as both student and Teaching Apprentice. This option is ideal for students who are focused on teaching, and are able to engage the experience from multiple perspectives. You will receive support in integrating these perspectives, and making meaning of them.

This Apprenticeship Initiates You as a Reiki Teacher Through:

• A powerfully effective nature-based teaching model, rooted in the pedagogy of the Shakti Rising Embodied Wisdom Teacher Training Program (now called Elemental Salt).

• Hands-on teaching experience within our Reiki certification program, as you journey through all three levels of Reiki as both student and teaching apprentice.

• Guidance through a nature-based strategic planning process to help bring your North Star goals into focus and create a living plan to get there.

• Customized support to bring your ideas and dreams into reality as high quality courses and experiences through mentoring by HeartScapes’ founder and senior teacher, Michaela Daystar.

In this Reiki Teaching Apprenticeship You will receive:

Lessons:

• Training in an effective, proven structure for teaching Reiki and other embodiment-based subjects, drawn from the Embodied Wisdom Teaching Pedagogy from Shakti Rising.

• Nine lessons on the Why, How & What of teaching all three levels of Reiki, with optional floating lessons offered where there is need and interest. Lessons include:

  • Orientation: Archetypes of The Teacher

  • Building the Bones: The Call, The Container & The Curriculum in the Room

  • North Star: An Intuitive Process for Creating a Responsive Roadmap

  • Facilitating an Embodied Experience: Bioremediation as Pedagogy

  • The Art of the Pivot:  Transitions, Interruptions & Bursts of Inspiration

  • Cultivating a Trauma-Informed Learning Environment: Self-paced class

  • Essential Elements: 3 lessons focused on the specifics of teaching Shoden Reiki I, Okuden Reiki II & Shinpiden Reiki III

  • Floating/Optional Lessons Include: Medicine Bag: Creating & Sourcing Quality Class Materials; Connecting With Your SoulMate Student; Rooting in Values; and Finding Your Authentic Language to Talk About Your Work.

Practicum:

• Participation in the HeartScapes Reiki Academy 9-Month Program as Teaching Apprentices, which guides students through certification in all three levels of Reiki. Teaching Apprentices who have already completed a Reiki training are asked to attend at least half of the 8 classes per level, and are welcome to attend all classes.

• Direct experience student-teaching in at least one class each of Reiki Shoden, Okuden & Shinpiden, including prep and debrief sessions. Options to practice teaching and guiding practices in our Monthly Reiki Practitioner Circle.

• Practicum is supported by regular mentoring calls over Zoom.

Curriculum Design Mentoring:

• Curriculum / program development support to bring your own ideas and dreams of Reiki-based classes, circles and experiences to life. Michaela has two decades of experience designing and implementing curriculum in a wide range of fields, both mystical and academic.

• Sky to Dirt: Strategic planning through a nature-based model to set your North Star for the projects, classes and programs you dream of creating

• Prep and debrief support when you teach your own first classes.

• Digital copies and permission to reproduce HeartScapes’ original teaching manuals for all class levels, plus additional teaching aids such as student hand-outs, journal questions, teaching slides, etc.

Tuition:

The HeartScapes Reiki Teacher Training Apprenticeship is offered at two levels of tuition. Choose the scholarship price if the full investment presents a hardship for you. Graduates of the HeartScapes Reiki Academy 9-Month Program receive discounted tuition for the Teaching Apprenticeship.

Real Tuition: $3,500, with option to pay over 12 months at $292/month

Scholarship Tuition: $3,000, with option to pay over 12 months at $250/month

Discounted Tuition for HeartScapes 9MP Graduates: $2,800, with option to pay over 12 months at $210/month

• We believe in apprenticeship as an effective, comprehensive and relational strategy for teaching a craft.  Therefore we are committed to investing the time and resources necessary to provide this traditional form of learning.

• We believe that, as an embodied spiritual practice, Reiki should be taught in a way that is experiential, leading to students having an embodied experience of the material rather than a primarily intellectual one.  We have observed that this is the best way to ensure that students take on Reiki as a life-long sustaining practice, something one learns to BE rather than to do.  Therefore we are committed to providing Teaching Apprentices with a class structure and pedagogical framework that best supports those outcomes.
