What is Reiki?
The system of Reiki is a Japanese meditation and energy balancing practice drawn from the roots of Japanese Buddhism and Shinto. As a self-practice, the system of Reiki offers a pathway to live a life that is rooted, spacious and connected. It is a practice that helps us remember and reclaim our sacred relationship to ourselves, each other and the world. As a healing practice, a Reiki session supports you to bring balance to the places in your body, heart and mind that need support.
Reiki is ideally suited to support a pregnancy journey, and is therefore a valuable addition to the skillsets of birth support professionals and community.
Empowered Childbirth with Reiki puts the power and foundational practices of the system of Reiki in your hands to deeply support your clients during pregnancy and birth, and to support you in feeling your own empowered resilience within this demanding work.
In this class you will learn three foundational practices of the system of Reiki from its Japanese origins, with emphasis on the use of Reiki in your role as a birth worker. We will apply these practices in several ways that specifically support you to:
Support your own system (body, mind, heart, energy) to remain resilient, grounded and connected within your demanding and dynamic vocation.
Create a container of safety when working with clients before and during birth, that promotes focused calm and resilience for everyone in the room, through the quality of your own presence.
Learn both hands-on and off techniques to use with your clients before and during birth.
Learn a series of techniques designed to share with your clients for their own use in their pregnancy experience.
You will receive:
Eight hours in-person instruction at HeartScapes Studio in Davis
Three optional hands-on follow-up practice sessions, aprox 2 hours each, either at the studio or a location of your choice (depending on how far the location is from Davis, I will attend / instruct these practice sessions either in person or over Zoom).
Digital workbook with written instruction, background and journal prompts.
Three audio recordings of meditations for use with your clients. You can either use the recordings to learn the meditations so that you can guide your clients with them, or simply share the recordings with them directly. They are designed for pregnant folks to:
Navigate the ever-changing nature of the pregnant body, and ease discomfort
Early bonding with baby while in utero
Work with the intense emotions and emotional fluxuations that are normal, yet challenging, during pregnancy
If you decide you want to go deeper with Reiki and receive Reiki Practitioner certification, you'll receive a discounted registraion on our Reiki Level 1, or our 9-Month Program (which teaches all 3 levels of Reiki). The next offering begins in October.
