Forward Stance Tai Chi: Movement that Connects Us

Finding Grace in the Adjustment: Join Me for Mu-I Tai Chi Zen, Forward Stance Tai Chi!

In the HeartScapes Reiki Academy 9-Month Program, our Shinpiden (Reiki III) class is framed around the themes and practice of the simple Tai Chi form Mountains, Clouds & Waterfalls. These are derived from a longer 10-step form called Mu-i Tai Chi Zen, or Forward Stance Tai Chi!

The video below demonstrates this 10-move Yang-style Tai Chi form. I learned this form from Norma Wong, Zen priest, former Hawai'i State legislator, social justice warrior and overall bad-ass. (Find her new book, When No Thing Works , here .) Norma teaches this beautiful internal energy-based martial arts form not only for personal development, but as a structure for helping teams of people learn to move together, to understand each other and themselves better, and connect energetically with each other.

INVITATION:

I'm inviting you to learn and practice Forward Stance with me over a 3-week learning/practicing session. We'll meet for 3 Sundays, 10-12 Pacific Time, to connect, meditate, engage with teachings from Norma's book, and work with Forward Stance as a form that supports us to move forward in our goals and our lives, and as a form of interconnection with each other. There will also be three optional shorter practice sessions on Thursday evenings from 5-6pm Pacific Time.

For those who wish to continue practicing together, I offer periodic practice sessions for groups, and offer 1:1 paid training and practice sessions. Those can be scheduled here (specify in the notes that this is a Tai Chi session).

SCHEDULE:

Sundays: March 1, 8 & 15, 10am - 12pm Pacific Time on Zoom

(Optional) Thursdays: March 4, & 20, 5 - 6pm Pacific Time on Zoom

INVESTMENT:
Because this practice is intentionally linked to supporting social movements, rather than paying me, I ask you to make a donation to the Center for Loss & Hope at Yolo Cares, an organization local to me that provides free hospice care and many forms of grief support all across Yolo County.

Register below, and make your donation to the Center for Loss & Hope at Yolo Cares directly.
